January Training Camp
Women’s Team Makes Trip to Boca Raton!
January 2025
Returning to Florida for a weekend training camp, Team Argentina settled into a home-away-from-home environment. This time, the team stayed together in a shared house, fostering a sense of community with early morning breakfasts and coordinated carpools to ensure timely arrivals at practice. Despite the challenges of last-minute flight cancellations and injuries, the players remained focused on the weekend’s goal: becoming stronger together.
The weekend’s activities extended beyond the field. Thanks to a session led by the organization Be Mindful, the team explored the foundations of what makes a successful unit. Through thoughtful discussions and interactive exercises, the players deepened their understanding of team dynamics, learning valuable skills in communication, empathy, and mutual support. These lessons are expected to have a lasting impact on the continued growth of Argentine lacrosse.
Saturday’s scrimmage against a local university team offered another opportunity for growth. Although the final score did not favor Team Argentina, the second half showcased the team’s grit and resilience. A surge of energy led to improved possession and tighter defensive coordination. The defense came together after each goal to identify adjustments, while the offense focused on ball control to manage the challenges of a running clock. The post-scrimmage debrief underscored the importance of functioning as a united group—a theme carried throughout the weekend.
As tradition dictates, no training weekend was complete without a team asado. The final evening brought everyone together to reflect, recharge, and celebrate progress. Special thanks go to the parents who organized and supported the dinner, continuing to play an essential role in Team Argentina’s journey.
This weekend in Florida reaffirmed that the path to success lies not only in skills and strategy but also in trust and a shared purpose. Team Argentina continues to build that foundation, one practice—and one family meal—at a time.
